SP2 installed...now FOREVER to boot-up! Why?

Dear R. McCarty,

Thanks for sticking with me on this....

I went and downloaded/installed the new Live Update....ran it, but it didn't
find any newer updates than what I had already installed.

Next: will try uninstalling the Sony Artisan calibration software, then
will shut down my computer completely...and boot it up from a cold-off.
Will see (hopefully will see something on the Sony) what gives...and then
reinstall the calibration software.

Will keep this thread informed...

John

Very likely it. On Nav - One note, there is a newer version of Live
Update that Live Update itself won't download/install. I would get
this newer Live Update, install and then reboot and run Live update
until it's satisfied all pending/available updates.

The 1st entry in the list is the one you'll want to download & install.

OK....hours later.....

Uninstalled AdAware, PCBug, and Norton SystemsWorks 2004.

Bigger problems....computer failed to recognize keyboard upon start-up.

Turned power off, then tried F8ing for Safe Mode....but keyboard failed to
be recognized.

Powered down. Finally got into Safe Mode.

Turned off (via software)....

Booted again....took 25-minutes.

Uninstalled GoBack.

Rebooted...took 25-minutes.

Rebooted....took 25-minutes.

Rebooted....finally took 3 minutes.

Reinstalled Norton SystemsWorks 2004.

Seems to be working fine now.

That's about all I can say...

.....but want to add a thank you to all that suggested tips...

Cheers,
John
