SP2 install

I'm sorry...eveything I search for on this forum shows nothing found, so I
have to ask.

I have XP, had to do a system recovery and have to re-install SP2. Problem
is while installing, I get an error message: can't copy "xpmsgr.chm". I tell
it to skip file and a window comes up to end set up. and it does. This file
seems to be a help file. I've done all the basic stiff, safe mode, shutting
down apps ect.

Any suggestion???

It is possible that the CD for SP2 is scratched. Have you tried the
downloadable version of SP2?

Order SP-2 on CD or download the Network Installation of SP-2 and burn to
CD, Step 1 on this page:

What do you mean by a system recovery and how was this done? Why did you
need to do it? I ask because if there were system problems requiring the
recovery, and depending on how this recovery was done, if there still are
system problems then installing SP2 might not work. SP2 should not be put
on a system that is not functioning well or that has malware. Here are some
