I'm working on a PC with XP SP1. When updating to SP2 it gets about half
way through the process and come up with an 'Internal Error', then 'SP2
could not be installed' In the add/remove programs menu, SP2 is listed but
it can't find the necessary files when trying to remove it. I've tried
googling this issue, and couldn't find much on it.. Any help on this
situation would be great.

First try opening event viewer for specific details,in the error/warning
properties
window, click on the url, this opens knowlege base help/support in xp,usually
with a fix....Also,if installing by cd,try letting windows update install
SP2.

Hi Cole,

See if the reason for setup failure is recorded in the log. Open the
Svcpack.log file. By default, this file is located in the C:\Windows folder.
To open the Svcpack.log file, click Start, click Run, type
%windir%\svcpack.log, and then click OK.
