Error Code: 0x8007007a

I have searched all over Microsoft site and also googled for possible
solutions about this error, but still couldn't solve it even though I
have tried almost all the solutions, except the Clean Boot one which I
do not want to do unless it's absolutely necessary. Here's the message
I received when I tried to create a new task:

Unquote
An error has occurred while attempting to set task account
information. The specific error is: 0x8007007a The data area passed
to a system call is too small.
Unquote.

I am using Windows XP SP3 with all the latest updates. I did find a
Hot Fix but it’s for SP2 only.

Any suggestions/comments are much appreciated.

Thank you.

1.Stop the task scheduler service: Right-click "My Computer", Manage, Services. Right-click
"Task Scheduler" in the Services window and select "Stop"

2. Open a COMMAND PROMPT in "C:\Windows\Tasks" and type "dir /a". It should only list your
scheduled tasks shown in the Tasks Scheduler UI. Delete any files NOT listed in the Tasks
Scheduler UI.

3. Restart the tasks scheduler service, then open the tasks scheduler UI. You should again be
able to create tasks normally.

Thank you for your response. I tried the above steps, unfortunately,
it didn't help. The same error message came on again. I have a
question about Clean Boot. If I performed that option, how do I know
which programs are the cause of the problem?

Thank you.

Try this: Double-click "My Computer", Local Drive "C", "Windows" folder and rename the folder
"Tasks" to "Tasksxx". Windows will automatically create a new "Tasks" folder and you can delete
the one you just renamed.

That should solve your problem.

Thank you for your suggestion. I did what you said and I was able to
schedule a new task without getting the error code anymore. However,
the scheduled tasks did not start and the Last Result showed "0x0". So
the error code is gone, but the task did not start. Any suggestions or
comments please?

Thank you.

Sorry, I spoke too soon. I went to Services and RESTART the Task
Scheduler, now it is working normally.

Thank you so much for your input. I have been searching for over 6
months and yours is the only that actually solve my problem. Thank you
again.
