SP2 install CHANGES software ID display

Noticed that after install of SP2, on the reboot it only displays
on the screen "Windows XP"...INSTEAD of ID'ing the original OS as
HOME or PRO editions...

Why is that?..

By design. All versions have the same splash screen in SP2.

Because Microsoft decided they liked it better that way.
