For some reason, recently when I boot my computer (XP home sp2) the
dual boot screen comes up asking which OS I want to boot to. The
choices are both Windows XP Home. I have only one installation of
Windows XP Home sp2 (installed in C:\XPHome). Why does this happen,
and how can I eliminate it?

This is nothing but a simple entry in a text file. Here is how
you can eliminate it:
1. Click Start / Run / notepad c:\boot.ini{OK}
2. Have a look at the two lines at the bottom that start with "multi".
3. Add a marker on each line after the "=", e.g. "x" and "y".
4. Save & close the file.
5. Reboot the machine.
6. Make a note which line works, the one with "x" or the one with "y".
7. Edit c:\boot.ini again and delete the unwanted line ("x" or "y").
