SP2 instalation

I am useing a HP Pavilion with an OEM version of windows
XP home. I have my automatic updates set to download but
to let me know before installing. I have heard something
about disabling your antivirus before installing this. I
am useing a dialup so may not even get it downloaded but
will order the CD when it comes out. What all do I need
to do before installing it? When it says it has
downloaded it, does that mean to my computer and then I
can go off line and install? Any help I need. Thank you
