I am running windows XP home and have my updates set to
automatically download and install updates at a certain
time. I am useing a dialup connection. I have heard that
the SP2 will continue where it left off from the download
of SP2. I am wondering when the download is complete, is
there something I need to do or will it install
automatically. I have read you have to agree to something
and also about turning off your antivirus before
installing. Are any of these true and what do I need to
know?
Thank you.

As far as is known right now you will need to agree to the EULA before the
update installs so there is a point at which you will be able to stop the
install and breath. I also see that the download will show on your screen as
to whre it is at any point. Today there have been many reports of the
download using automatic updates has not been very successful due the the
large number of people trying to access it. You might be better off by
downnloading the entire 266 mb to a directory of your choice and then
running it from there. I've place it on a cd as when the file is expanded it
fills a lot more than 266 mg of disk space.

I always think it is better to keep control of my maching in my hands not
anyone elses, even (or especially) MS's.

Otherwise lots of good reports on the installation coming in.

Good luck
