SP2 help

Michael

Let me tell you my set up first. I have four computer
three of which are laptops and the other is a desktop. I
use a netgear wireless router with four port switch. The
desktop is directly connected to the router via cat5.
The laptops are connected via wireless. Today I
downloaded and installed SP2 on one of the laptops. Now
I cannot log into my wireless router with the laptop.
What by logging in is going to 192.168.0.1, then typing
in my password. I tried logging in with the other
laptops and desktop and they all can, so I now it has
something to do with SP2. I tried turning off the
firewall but that didn't help. Anyone know what could be
going on?

For example, the beta cycle of SP2 already turned up many, many tools,
utilities and applications that SP2 breaks. See "Programs that are known
to experience a loss of functionality when they run on a Windows XP
Service Pack 2-based computer" at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=884130 . Undoubtedly, many
more will be added to the list as SP2 goes into wider release.

A PC World article also cites a small, anecdotal survey among highly
experienced users who reported that SP2 hoses about 15% of PCs it's
installed on--- a huge number. (

That's not to say that "SP2 is bad" or any such thing: Rather, it's that
it's brand-new and huge, and that means there will be bugs and
incompatibilities.
