Is MS going to issue a SP2 for the professional edition
or does the SP they now have work for both?

I have been running SP1 with the firewall on and a D-Link
hardware firewall and have been wanting to wait to see if
a SP2 followup appears to take care of bugs. Any
comments or suggestions?

Thank you.

SP2 is for both Home & Pro. If you are waiting for a follow-up - you may be
waiting for a while.

If you should install sp2, my suggestion is to read,
print and follow the advise given with the sp2 'more
info' section.... it list *many* programs which they have
identified as to have problems with sp2 and how to worrk
around them. i'd also do a FULL back up b/4 installing
it.

Hey ElliottQ

The SP2 currently available is all you will get. You say you have been:

"wanting to wait to see if a SP2 followup appears to
take care of bugs". Assming you know better about bugs
in SP2 then you are living in a cloud cukoo land.
Microsoft will not change its released version of SP2 but
might isue more patches to keep you busy. In fact there
are already patches to download after you have installed
SP2 (THE NEW OPERATING SYSTEM - for free!!).
This SP2 works for both Home and Prof version and you
will be wise to either download the full version or order
a CD to make your life easy. SP2 is the wonder drug as
claimed by M$ and it would be foolish of you to ignore
Bill Gates' sage words bearing in mind he made billions
by exploiting his MVPs who are willing to support his
products for nothing. Have you heard of the name KELLY?
she had a plastic patch of SP2 to improve her looks and
most users of this Newsgroup seems to have fallen for
her. She is 62 and all 20 year olds seems to like her
for her experience of life!!
Hope this helps.

I use non Microsoft products wherever possible which requires no activation.

I use Netscape 7.2 as my default browser which has everything I need for my work.

I believe in good Financial Management!! I do not
believe in enriching rich jerks!

SP2 is identical for all versions (including upgrades specific to Tablet
and Media Center versions when run on those machines)

Thank you all for your thoughts. I guess I will proceed
with care and trepidation.
