I got the message on my computer that the update SP2 was
ready to download. I told it to go ahead and then nothing
happen. This happen on my brother's computer as well. I
tried setting my computer to totally automatic upgrade
and install, yet nothing seems to be happening yet. I
really want this upgrade. Any suggestions as to what I
can do to get it downloaded.

Me too. I got impatient after waiting 4 days for nothing
and downloaded the SP2 from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/main
tain/winxpsp2.mspx
(watch the wrap) - download for multiple computers
Buy the way - it upgraded smoothly, no problems to report
on an older puter with even older programs running.

Hi Jim,

Probably server lag due to the large number trying to download and install
it. Your choices are to 1) be patient or 2) download and install the full
network package:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...BE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en

It's a whopper at 266MB. The Auto-update version (aka the Express version)
will be smaller as it will only download the parts you need. The full
network version contains everything, including all critical updates since
XP's original release, many of which you probably already have.
