How to check status of SP2 download

Last Saturday I got a pop-up message on my XP Home computer telling me
SP2 was ready for download and I clicked on the button to start the
download. It's been over a week now and nothing has happened. My
Computer properties says I'm on Windows XP SP1.

Wednesday I got the pop-up message on my XP Profession computer telling
me SP2 was ready for download and I clicked on the button to start the
download. It's been several days now and nothing has happened. My
Computer properties says I'm on Windows XP SP1.

I have a broadband connection (Comcast cable).

Automatic Updates on both machines are configured to "Notify me but
don't automatically download or install them."

Anybody have any ideas about what's going on? Any way to check the
progress of the SP2 download?

Thanks
Jim

I tried that previously on both computers and it said that no updates
were available. Now it says (XP Pro):

"Download and install it now - Currently not available !
We are currently experiencing a high level of demand for Windows XP
Service Pack 2, so please check back later for availability. We
apologize for any inconvenience. If you prefer to obtain SP2 another
way, the easiest way to get Service Pack 2 is to turn on the Automatic
Updates feature in Windows XP and it will be downloaded when you are
connected to the Internet without you having to take any further action
(how does Automatic Updates work?). You also can order SP2 on a CD."
