SP2 Download/ Copy

Am in the process of a 2 hour download of SP2. Does any
one know if I can copy this download to my other pc's or
do I have to repeat the dowmload for each PC. Thanks for
any help onm offer. RTT

Hi

You can burn the file to a CD, then use it on your other PCs.

Are you downloading the Network Installation?
If yes, you can burn it to CD for use on any and all of your
computers.
Otherwise you need to download again for each computer.

JJ - many thnaks for this, I am using XP home, no
network. Had a look at your link

indeed.
I have seen dozens of problems posted re SP2 - reboot
problems, flash drive problems etc. - and have serious
reservations about continuing with the download. You have
listed about 20 steps to follow - I'll print the list and
that will be a great help if/ when I continue the
installation process, but I have to say that most people
are trusting the automated microsoft process and are
running into problems. Thnaks again

Thnaks for this. Someone else tells me the CD will only
work for a network. If I want to copy what location is
the SP2 file. Thx again

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...BE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en

you can then either burn it to a CD as a single file and use it on all your
PCs, or you can create a slipstreamed CD if you wnat to 'clean' install SP2.

Go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?

It is a full version of the SP for deplouing to multiple
computers (Windows XP Service Pack 2 Network Installation
Package for IT Professionals and Developers). It's 272MB
so putting it on CD from a computer with a fast connection
is the way to go.
