SP2 clears out old hotfixes?

I've got a copy of the network version of SP2 (266MB) and planning on
installing it soon. My question: does this delete all the old hotfixes
that are part of SP2? I'm hoping to see my add/remove programs list get a
lot shorter by removing the hotfixes and having the installation delete all
the uninstall archives in C:/windows.

Just curious if this is a feature of this style of installation. I have
dial-up and two computers to do so I'd rather not go through Windows Update.

Yes, they are gone from the Installed Programs list. They are not gone
altogether, they are now part of SP2.

The entries in add or remove programs will be gone. In fact one of the
features of SP2 is that any post-SP2 hotfixes will not have their
entries show by default in add or remove programs. You can see them,
but you have to check a little box that says "show updates".

The $NtUninstall* folders will not be removed by the SP2 install. If
they were, then an uninstall of SP2 would mean that you couldn't then
later uninstall the hotfix also. If that is not a problem, then after
the SP2 install you can delete the $NtUnisntall* folders from your
windows directory, retaining the $NtServicePackUninstall$ folder if you
want to keep the option to uninstall SP2 if necessary.

Another option is to burn the $NtServicePackUninstall$ folder to CD.
You can always copy it back if you want to uninstall later.

It will replace all modules found that are matched by *later* ones
included in it. So that updates all such fixes. But I notice that it
includes the msmsgs.exe of messenger 4.7 - and does not replace the
later version 5.0 that I have installed, even though that is a year old
