SP2 cannot connect to lan/router

hello. I have been using xp pro for the last couple years, and have upgraded
to SP2 when it was released.

Today i bought a copy of XP Pro SP2 and did a clean install, and cannot
connect to the router at 192.168.1.1.

My last windows install consisted of simply internet options, connections,
lan settings, and automatically connects to the internet. I dont have this
option anymore, and whatever i do in network settings i cannnot get windows
to connect to the router. (router drivers are fine, router is fine, network
itself is fine)

thanks
- Tom

When you say "router drivers are fine, router is fine, network itself is
fine", does that mean this computer connects all right to other
computers on the same network? Did you put the lan as Trusted in the
exceptions of Windows Firewall?

Try turning off the Windows Firewall, you do not need a software
firewall if you have a hardware firewall, such as a router.
