SP2 and WMP10

Before I installed SP2, I had installed WMP10 - it was working great and I
had gotten things set up the way that I liked. However, after installing
SP2, I can no longer play any video files (avi, mpg, mpeg, wmv, etc.) - they
all either fail to download codecs or give me an error message (I'm not sure
off the top of my head what the message is, but I can post later today if
necessary). Is there any kind of codec pack or update I need to do in order
for WMP to regain the ability to play video files?

Hello Tony,

Go out to the Windows Update site and see if it
recognizes the WMP not being updated.
- If it appears that the WMP does not have an update
available, then uninstall SP2 if you want and then check
it by going back to the Windows Update site and see if it
recognizes the WMP not being updated. If so then download
and install it again.

To uninstall SP2:
- Go to Start/Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs

The best, cheapest and quickest way to fix this problem
and get done within an 1 1/2 hrs:
- Boot to the WinXP CD
- Select Repair and follow other screen instructions.
- After it Reboots go to the Desktop.
- Run a 3rd Party Windows Registry cleaner program.
- Defrag the Windows Registry file.
- Then reboot.
- After it Reboots go to the Desktop.
- Then go to the Windows Update Site and download them
again.

SP2 sets out to install WMP9, so may have got at cross purposes with an
existing WMP10 (which was still Beta when SP2 was completed). I would
get a new download of the final WMP 10 and install it.
