Vista codecs on XP

I'm having trouble playing a video file in WMP10 which says that the codec is
not available or words to that effect. I have a copy of shark007's vista
codec pack and was wondering if it would work on my XP/sp2 x86 machine?Thx a
lot.

Try playing the video file using VLC Media Player. Its free.

Ask the codec author? Install it and try it?
