also if anyone can help with this now i have discovered
that the problem lies within internet explorer itself, i
have accessed pogo.com with opera and fast browser with
no problems. i do not want to reinstall explorer as it
looks pretty complicated and am scared i will make things
worse. anyone any ideas on how to fix this without
reinstalling explorer and other than uninstalling sp2.

I'm running WinXP SP2, and I just accessed pogo.com with no problem. I have
SP2's firewall disabled, and I'm using Norton's firewall instead. So, it
could still be some settings in SP2's firewall, or you have security set too
high in your MSIE. Try setting MSIE's security to "default"...see if that
works.

you know what Chris, i thank you for your information,
but i am so frazzled i have been trying to fix this
problem since wednesday and am getting nowhere. i am not
turning on sp2firewall or sp2 popupblocker until i can
get explorer working in pogo first. like i said
everything was perfect prior to install of sp2. somehow
sp2 has changed something that I after following
everyones instructions cannot fix. by reinstall the
program affected, do you mean uninstall explorer and
reinstall? as that is where the problem is lying i just
can figure it out. tks for yr help tho. sure wish one of
my kids was a computer whiz lol.

You may need to reinstall the program affected, Valerie. Don't disable the
Windows Firewall, that's only inviting trouble into
your
machine. Take a
look at this information on XP SP2, and then
investigate
the Help section

No, I don't mean to reinstall Internet Explorer at all, but perhaps the Java
you're using on the system. That's one of the reasons I suggested you check
Pogo's web site Help. They even have a section where you can email them
with your issue description, and they will email a resolution back to you.

When you go to the site, look for a small beige bar in Internet Explorer
just under the address area. If that pops up, it is looking for a response
from you - and will not continue to properly load the page unless you
approve the action. In most cases like Pogo, they need to install something
on your system for their games to work.

I posted the previously link so you could see how XP SP2 is supposed to
function, and perhaps see the adjustments you would need to make.
