SP2 and FireWire problem

After installing SP2, it looks to have broken my FireWire capability. I only
use it to upload to my NOMAD player, so I can't verify with another device,
but as I can still upload via USB it would appear that perhaps the current
IEEE 1394 driver isn't compatible with SP2 and would also rule out any
problems with my Audigy card and/or Creative software. Interestingly,
though, I can still download from the NOMAD player to my PC via FireWire,
but it will stall and cancel out on any transfer to NOMAD.

Just wondering if anyone else has seen this, and if an updated driver is
available (the current IEEE 1394 controller driver is version 5.1.2535.0).

I've not got this problem, but I have different problem with firewire,
maybe there is a problem with the driver.

I've got several external disks, if I boot with them all powered on, they work fine.
However, if I switch them on one at a time after booting, allowing for XP to recognise each one,
only one of them works.
i.e. switch on disk1 - it's OK
switch on disk2, it's OK, but disk1 becomes unavailable
switch on disk3, it's OK, but disk2 becomes unavailable (and disk 1 is still unavailable)

I've uninstalled SP2 and it's all working again (and I'm now on 5.1.5235.0)
I didn't check the version of 1394 after the SP install.

I believe I saw somewhere that there is a new hotfix for SP2 Firewire. Check
the MS Knowlegebase.

Tim,

The only thing I could find is KB830987, which might help Methos, but it
doesn't apply to my situation (XP does recognize NOMAD and can peruse/edit
its files, it just can't upload). And the hotfix is only available upon
request. The article also implies that SP2 is the solution, not the cause,
of the problem.

I can still use a USB connection, so I'm not up the creek. Thanks anyway.

Thanks Bruce, but I think this issue was prior to SP2 and was fixed in SP1a
The versions of 1394bus.sys on my system now (after uninstal) are older than
those mentioned in the KB and my disks are working fine (ish).
I do have a slight problem in that if I switch on several disks at the same time,
not all are recognised, so I switch them on one at a time.

I'll keep an eye open for other KB articles to see if any apply.
