SP2 64 bit processor problems

My PC has a 64 bit AMD processor. I have read some recent articles
suggesting not to download download SP2 if you run a 64 bit processor. What
are the issues? Are fixes on the way so I can take advantage of this
upgrade?

Thank you. The link you provided was very helpful.
The link below is for an audio broadcast.

The broadcast contains information specific to the AMD issue.
It seems AMD'S newest 64 bit chips are the only chips on the market to date
to include a new security technology. The technology is known as "Data
Execution Prevention" or DEP. With SP2 the technology takes care of a buffer
overun vulnerability hackers can take advantage of. It seems this technology
has an issue with a specific driver Mpegport.sys. This driver is used by
Sigma Designs, Real Magic Hollywood Plus DVD decoder, and others. Since DEP
is an essential part of SP2's security upgrade I'm sure this issue will be
resolved.
