I had a virus which crashed my computer. Fortunately I was able to get into the safe mode and save my work. I reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled XP. Everything worked fine until I upgraded to SP1. When my computer loads now all I get is the wallpaper- no icons, taskbar. If I open in safe mode, all of my programs are present.

Any ideas as to what could be causing all of the problems? Is the virus eradicated by formatting the hard drive?

YES I LIKE TO KNOW ANSWER TO THSI MY SELF AS I REINSTALL XP BUT HAD A
COPY OF SEVICE PACK ON DRIVE INSTALL IT AND WINDOW WOULD NOT START, I
HAD TO REINSTALL WINDOW XP AGAIN, DID A REPAIR
