Hi,
I can't find any reference/link to a problem reporting URL so I hope
this is the right place - stupidly I deleted the icon before finding
out what it pointed to, and google has drawn a blank.
I put RC1 on a test machine unsing the slipstreamed MSDN download.
Couple of issues:
1. Its domain search algorithm is broken. I'm on surak.nodomain.org,
the connection specific DNS suffix (shown by ipconfig) has correctly
initialised as nodomain.org... I ping goliath.
Now on XP and basically any other OS I could name it would stick the
name 'goliath' and add '.nodomain.org' and ping
'goliath.nodomain.org'. Vista, on the other hand pings
'goliath.org'!.
I've attempted to ssh and ftp into some poor guy's server about a
dozen times already! Hope he's honest and doesn't have a keylogger
installed... The only thing I can think of to do is to force the
suffix to something like foobar.nodomain.org and work around it that
way, but that'll have to be done locally (which would mean disabling
DHCP making any kind of mobility on a laptop rather hard).
It's likely a security issue... typing passwords into a server when
you *think* you're talking to the right one is rather easy to do, and
all the domains for the common machine names seem to be used.
2. File transfer speed... ugh! FTP - 300mpbs. drag/drop.. 10kbps
(no, that's not a typo). If you give up and try to cancel it explorer
hangs and you have to force terminate it. The original was slow
enough.. this is silly.
