soundscheme

after clean install of XP, the soundscheme can not be altered.In its
particular window changes are made, tested and seem allright, applied and
ok-ed, but then apparantly, nothing changed at all, when reopening the
soundscheme, all alterations are undone.... Tried it numerous times, but to
no avail.
(somewhere I read that it could have to do something with the computer being
connected to a router...?)

Did anybody out there have the same experiences and/or solutions ?

When you are finished selecting all your sounds do you Save As and then
choose a Name for it.
 
been there, done that...
saved the soundscheme under another name
test didn't work
when reopening the soundsettings, it's all back to default
