Sounds

I have tried everything, but still no sound from my speaker on the monitor or
the stero speakers. The sound card is working properly, the driver is good,
and no conflicts.
What's the next thing to do? This occurred after a re-load of a new
operating system because of a Norton problem.

I have NO VOLUME on the (Right) Speaker. Left Speaker works fine and Volume
Level on HIGH. The Master Volume Balance is in the CENTER where it should
be...I play a Video/Music file and I slide it Left.....Left speaker works
fine. I slide it to the Right....NO SOUND.

I have a MICROTEK 914 Monitor (with SPEAKERS in the Monitor). I've made
sure the "Sounds and Audio Devices" in the ADVANCED Tab are set to MONITOR
SPEAKERS. Then I play a music clip and slide the balance to the left speaker
(sound works).....slide it to the right speaker (no sound).

I've contacted MICROTEK (Tech Support) where I got the monitor from and did
troubleshooting and all to NO avail.....still doesn't work. I've made sure
ALL connections were in tact and no loose cables. MICROTEK stated it appears
to be the Right Speaker failed. I think it may be something else with the
settings of some type and done all the troubleshooting I could.

Are there OTHER steps you can assist me with on this? I think the speaker
settings "might" have been corrupted and need to be reset. Your opinion?

Your professional expertise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Bill :)

I'd agree with Microtek - that speaker has failed. Driver corruption would
affect both speakers. Plug in another set of speakers or headphones to
verify.

Hey PAT!
Thanks for your info.
I forgot to mention.....I did plug in my HEADPHONES....I hear sound from
BOTH (left and right) earpieces and retested. Successful sounds come from
both ear pieces. If the HEADPHONES didn't work....it would have to be
something with the driver or the sound card. I have a REAL good Sound Card
so I know that's not the issue.

I forgot to mention....I did plug in my headphones......I DID hear sounds
from both left and right speakers with no issues.

I'm sure if I DIDN'T hear sound from the (right) headphone....it would have
to be a "driver" or sound card issue.

Your opinion would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks :)

Then the problem is with the right speaker, not with any drivers or hardware
up to and including that jack.

It does happen that speakers fail. Sometimes the magnet shifts, jamming
the coil. Others burn out. The only practical thing to do is to replace
the failed unit.

YES....as I suspected .....
I was hoping I wasn't going to have to replace the monitor but I've
troubleshooted as much as I could.

Thanks for your info.
I wonder if the unit can be "repaired" ?
