Sounds and Audio Devices - No Sound

Help please. I have no system sounds or web page sounds, I do have sounds
via Itunes, Windows Media Player. The option to play each of the program
events within windows default sound scheme (and any newly created schemes) is
is greyed out. I have checked the obvious i.e volume levels, Hardware/Device
Properties, BIOS settings, IE7 properties etc. Can anyone offer any advice
or experience from the same problems.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, We have the same problem. No system or webpage sounds, yet we can play
our midi files and mp3 files okay with winamp, (so the soundcard is working
fine),but when we go to our website we cannot hear the song that is there,
and it may be caused by IE7. When we put a cd into our player in the
computer, WM says it cannot find the sound card, or it is not working
correctly etc etc. Computer techs say they may have to reinstall windows to
see if that will fix the problem and they have said it could be IE7 causing
the problems.

I answered below but I have just gone into 'control panel' sounds and audio
devices and discovered the so called computer tech had not ticked our correct
audio device, which I have now done and all running perfect once again. Saved
us another 50km trip to town.
