The sound suddenly stopped working on my computer and I dont know why. I
cannot get any sound at all. Why would it just stop like that and how can i
fix it?

There are a variety of reasons that can cause your sound to stop working.

We'll need to know what troubleshooting steps you've already taken.

1) Do the speakers actually work? Have you plugged headphones into your
sound card to test them?
2) Are your speakers powered on?
3) Are your speakers actually connected to your PC?
4) Is the volume turned up?
5) Has the mute feature been enabled?
6) Does your sound card show up in the Device Manager with no conflicts?

Give us some more details. Check all of the simple (seemingly obvious)
things first.

I have checked all of the above and dont seem to have any problems there. The
one thing which is strange is when i try to change the volume levels in
sounds and devices it tells me that it cannot execute SndVol32.exe use add
remove programs to install. Does this mean that my sound card has uninstalled
itself and if so could I install it again from my recovery cd for my comp. I
dont have any other backup disks relating specifically to sound

Im having the same problem... i have the sound up as loud as i can.... i even
plugged my headphones into where my speakers are supposed to be... and still
nothing... I really need help.... I don't even know how it happened... i've
gone everywhere, everything says "This device is working properly" and i
ajust the volume on everything... the weird thing is.. Its not my speakers...
its my computer cause when i un-mute my microphone.. i can hear it... So, i
really need help...
