That depends on two primary factors. The capabilities of your soundcard and
the other is your speakers. Some speaker sets have a headset jack, when
plugged in there the speakers cut off and the headset plays. Some soundcards
have settings in Sound and Audio Properties under the Control Panel where you
can change the settings. Yours may not have this. XP does not have a magic
button to do this.
