I have recently purchased a new computer and am running
on XP Pro, my speakers are the original ones. The volume
is now very low and will not adjust.I have tried
adjusting via the control on the speakers and by using
the volume control built into XP.
Is it possible the the speakers are not compatable??

Ray, I doubt if that's the problem. Go to Classic Control Panel>Audio and
Sound Devices Icon. Click on and select the
Volume Tab. See if you can make more adjustments. Also while there select
Advanced.

Are the speakers plugged into the "Light Green" socket on the
Soundcard ?, Also, most Mixers have both a Wave and a Master
Volume slider. The Wave should be 50% or greater and then
adjust the Master slider and your speaker's volume control

Not sure whether this might be of benefit. From an earlier post:

To test the speakers go to control panel and click on sounds,
speech and audio devices. There you will find the option
to test your speakers.
