i'm about out of disc memory
there is a hidden file C/sound volume information
that uses over 4 gigs

what is it, do i need it, can i delete it ???

Ray,

Among other things, the System Volume Information folder is a system folder
used by Windows to store System Restore checkpoints for troubleshooting
purposes.

If you decide you want to disable System Restore, the checkpoints will be
deleted when you do so. To disable System Restore (or decrease the size
allocated to it) go to the System applet in Control Panel and click the
System Restore tab.
