Sound skip

On computer startup there is a skip in the music (start windows) that is
just irritating. I have tried some research but can't seem to find anything
specific to this. That same sound in SOUNDS & AUDIO (Control Panel) does not
have a skip which implies to me that it isn't a driver issue.

I guess I could just as easily turn it off or find another but wonder if
this is indicative of another issue.

Turn it off. Your computer is still busy loading lots of other drivers
needed to run your system- the sound is just sharing available resource with
other things. It's not necessary to Windows running so disable it- let
Windows load the things that are needed.
