Sound Recorder

I don't know what's going on, but I can't get my sound recorder to work
properly and if I have the volume up on my speakers, I can hear the noise in
the room through my speakers! Can someone tell me what I need to do?
Thanks in advance,
hb

Sounds like you have a microphone turned on. Try and turn it off under the
sound control panel. What exactly is not working with the sound recorder?

I can't seem to find the correct panel that has that function. If I were to
do this would the mike still work when trying to record?

Hi HB

Double-click on your volume icon in the system tray area, then click
"Option" and "Properties". Turn off the mic in the "Playback" setup and
turn it on in the "Record" setup. Volume controls apply there, too. So if
you had the mic on in the playback setup and cranked the volume, your sound
card would receive and amplify whatever the mic picks up, all the time.
Sounds like that's what's happening now?
