Sound problem

Davesg

I have upgraded from ME to XP and have lost sound. Device
manager shows 'code 12' - 'cannot find enough free
resources'.
I have downloaded and installed XP driver for SiS 7018
but this has not resolved the conflict. I have also tried
changing a few resource settings - still has not resolved
the problem.
Any help would be appreciated!

BTW....I am a novice with computers so please try and
keep any suggestions in easy to understand format!!!

If the sound is from a card you will need to reinstall the drivers from the disk that came
with it. If the sound is on board you will need to reinstall the drivers that came with
the Motherboard or computer disk.

Sometimes you have to boot to safe mode, remvove all sound card entries,
and try again. Note that you have to pay attention to the docs on how to
install the new XP sound drivers.

Thanks Randy....I have tried re-installing both original
driver from disk and updated XP driver downloaded from
manufacturer. No luck so far. I will try suggestion from
Plato (thanks also Plato) to boot in safe mode and clean
out files.

Any other help will be very welcome guys! :)
