Problems with WindowsXP

I have been having a lot of problems with WindowsXP on my
laptop:

1) IE6 closes after loading a Microsoft site (have to use
Netscape to access Microsoft site and many downloaded
programs from microsoft do not run including service packs).
2) Many programs that came with Windows XP no longer work
including automatic update and device manager.
3) My integrated sound card (SiS 7018) randomly stops
working, to get it to work again I have to disable the
device, restart the computer, and enable it again. I have
downloaded every SiS 7018 sound driver I can find with no
success.

When I got the laptop it had WindowsXP already installed
and it has no XP install disk. Does anyone have any
suggestions as to what I should do or how to get a Windows
XP system disk that has what I need to reinstall the
non-working windows components and fix the problems I have?
Is there a way for me to contact Microsoft with my
registration number and get them to send me one?

Have you got uptodate Anti Virus software? Do you have built in firewall
activated? You may well have Blaster worm.

Mike.
