Sound problem

All of a sudden I'm have some wierdness with sound. I can't hear .wmv files,
xp sounds and other general sounds on my machine, but I can go to a website
with sound and hear it just fine. I've cleaned out temp files, checked
connections, rebooted, checked volume levels....everything I can think of.

Anyone have any ideas? I have XP SP2 installed.
