Sound problem XP and Explorer

I have no sound in XP or Explorer. I can play sound in Media player and games.
I don`t think it`s a sound card driver problem. I think it starded with SP 3.

Both WMP & games would use diffrent configurations than xp,try run,type:
DXDIAG Run the Direct X sound tests.

I have already done that. No problem. I can`t play any system sounds. The
play button is not useable.
