sound is gone!

i downgraded a friends os on his laptop from vista to xp as he didnt like
vista this is a brand new laptop a very good 1 i mite add but i noticed that
the volume icon was gone out of tray so i went in to control panel and its
inccessable its saying theres no sound devices i installed a few programmes
on hs new laptop like winrar,vlc
adaware,limewirepro,bittornado,nero7,ccleamer,hitm an,spybot,vso
convertxtodvd and klmcodecs the reason im mentioning all them incase one of
these caused conflictand plus theres speakers built into his laptop so there
is a device am i after changing all the drivers by dowwngrading and is there
a way to get them back r did i do something else or can i do something else
thanks in avance

sorry i forgot this it was saying i think in dxdiag that there was no mixer
or something

After you installed the operating system, did you also install the
drivers? It sounds like you forget this vital step. Go to the laptop
mftr.'s website for that particular model laptop. Download drivers and
laptop-specific software for XP and install it.

Since you didn't tell me what model HP laptop your friend has, I can't
check for you. I suggest that you look again or have your friend call HP
tech support.

If there are no drivers for XP, then your friend is out of luck and will
need to put Vista back on the machine. He should check with HP tech
support first and, if Vista is unworkable for him and he cannot install
XP, return the laptop.

HP Pavilion dv9233eu Notebook PC I WENT TO THERE SITE FOUND THE DRIVERS FOR
THE SPEAKERS ,THE CAMERA ,nvidvia 2 drivers the sound 1 wont install its
running to tth end then saying its not properly installed then the camera i
didnt try i think that installed but the nvidia wont install keeeps saying
wrong os so i think it'll have to go back to shop so they can reinstall vista
and his hard drive cos i formated the thing never made back up never

Your post is extremely difficult to read. Using chatspeak is not
recommended in a newsgroup. Bottom line, yes - I think you should not
have messed about with your friend's laptop and now he should take it
back to the shop and have it fixed. I leave you with the thought that if
it costs your friend anything, you should consider paying for it.
