I had some problem with the drivers of my system and had to reinstall the
operating system. I downloaded the drivers from the gateway website after
reinstalling the OS and the sound icon too, but the sound icon does'nt
install in the task bar. How can I fix this issue. Any input will be
appreciated. Thanking you

Steve, did you try going to Control Panel>Sound and Audio Devices>check
the box Place Volume Icon in Taskbar click
Apply, Ok.

Mr Rich Barry, Thanks for your reply. As you suggested I went to the Sound
and Audio Devices and tried to check the box ,but on doing so I get a message
box popup which says'windows cannot display the volume icon on the task bar
because the volume control program has not been installed. Install it from
the Add/Remove programs in Control panel. On going to add/remove program I do
not find any such program. I guess it could have been deleted from the
sustem. Could you tell me from where I could download this particular
program. Thanking you for replying back.

Hi there,

How do I install a sound system from add or remove?

You don't - if the sound system is onboard (i.e. part of the mainboard),
you install the mainboard audio driver and software from the mainboard
driver CD, and then configure what it's going to be allowed to show you from
within the XP windows that you've listed below. If your soundcard is a
3rd-party expansion card (from, say, Creative), you'd install the soundcard
from the Creative CD and then configure it using the windows.

Tell me what it is )
