Sound does not work but on media.

I have a Creative Sound Blaster Live LS 5.1 (Sound Card) and I have sound
whenever I am using media, such as listening on the Radio, playing games,
music, etc., but I get the error message: [Windows cannot play sound
%SystemRoot%\media\Windows XP Error.wav. Your sound card may be in use.]
whenever I try to play a sound with Windows, ie: no sounds for windows, no
beeps, or bongs, and also whenevery I am on the Internet although the media
plays on that, just nothing else.

Any help?

may i suggest that u go to control panel then multimedia in the properties
box make sure youre sound card is listed as youre preferred devive
