Sound card not recognize device

When I got no sound, I check the device manager and found the Plug & play
emulator under system has a yellow exclamation. I tried to updated the
driver but not successful. I deleted it after. The audio device only shows
modem# 3 to 6. No window sound. System restore doesn't work. How do I fix
this problem? Are some files in the recycle bins can be recovered with
Norton protected recycle bin restore?

If updating the drivers for your sound device (and if you got the
drivers from the correct place - see below) doesn't help, then swap the
soundcard out for a known-working one. You can buy a new soundcard for
less than $20USD.

Never get drivers from Windows Update. Get them from:

1. The device mftr.'s website; OR
2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if hardware is onboard; OR
3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM
computer (HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the
drivers.

To find out what hardware is in your computer:

1. Read any documentation you got when you bought the computer.
2. If the computer is OEM, go to the OEM's website for your specific
model machine and look at the specs (you'll be there to get the drivers
anyway)
3. Download, install and run a free system inventory program like Belarc
Advisor. The older Aida32 is good for this, too.

If you need more help, post back and include the make/model of your
soundcard and what changed between the time things worked and the time
they didn't. It would also be helpful to have some information about
your computer - age, make/model, etc.
