I have recently upgraded my computer to Windows XP from
ME, however, Because my sound card isn't very modern, the
95/98/ME drivers I have for it don't work with XP, plus I
can't find drivers for XP, the card is a Diamond Monster
Sound (thats the name it had in the device manager in ME)
How can I get 98/Me drivers working with XP, or does
anyone know where I can get drivers for XP?

Hello

You have 2 options
Do a serach on google.com or go to driverguide.com
Another option disable your onboard soundcard and just
buy ne w a new SDCard and go from their, that's provided
that you can not find a driver

I have looked, I am currently downloading HOPEFULLY
working drivers, however if they don't, is there anyway
of converting 9X drivers to XP?

Diamond is not out of buisness!! They were bought out and the newer
company shifted the focus to graphic cards.

I tried using MX300 drivers for NT, but although it
appears in the Device manager, it doesn't replace the
entry that really is my sound card, and windows doesn't
recognise it as an audio device, but does anyone know
anyway to convert drivers from 9x to XP, since its
possible with Windows-linux conversion, why not with XP?

If XP doesnt see it, try to find out what chipset is on your sound card
(like some Mad Dog cards are C-Media 8738 based chipsets). You might be able
to find a base "reference" driver from the chipset manufacture.

Diamond Multimedia went out of business, sold it's graphics dept. to S3 ,
then they sold it to VIA (who integrated S3 video into some of their
chipsets - KM266, KM400, and now DeltaChrome).
Diamond sound tried to stay afloat, selling MP3 players (Diamond RIO), went
under, changed to SonicBlue, havent cared since then.
They were quiet for a few years, and someone again bought the "Diamond"
name.

So yes, Diamond went out of business...but has been back and forth, and just
now (again) announced they will discontinue selling video cards...

OK? Who wants to buy them next...

If you are cash strapped, try OfficeMax
They have a $15 Rebate Valid 3/7 - 3/13 on their $19.98
Mad Dog MultiMedia Prowler 4.1 DSP Sound Card
Prowler 4.1 DSP. $15 Mail-In Rebate. Mail-In Rebate Valid 3/7 - 3/13 Only!
Item # 20330009 , Style # MD-PS4

It uses a CMedia chipset. Not to bad for 5 bucks or so , after tax.

Using Google and reading an old review of the card I find that the sound
chips were made by ESS and are the Canyon chipset. Further searching
found drivers for the chipset on driverguide.com
