A very strange thing happened. After setting up a new
hard drive, I restarted the win200 pro and after login I
hear standard login sound. The problem I see nothing on
the screen. I do a CRTL ALT DEL to get the shutdown but
that is all the view I get. I sure could use some help on
this!

Check that explorer.exe is the default shell to start. Look at the Reg_Sz
string value of;
"Shell"="Explorer.exe"
found at
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Else these may help you.

I had a similar problem only my server did not respond to Ctrl Alt
Del. I finally discovered the problem to be a corrupt user profile,
logged on as another user and deleted the profile, then logged on as
that user again. Windows is forced to re-create the profile. This is
only relavent in a domain environment.

Cheers
