SOS - Windows 2000 - Date changes automatically

Hi,

I am running a WIndows 2000 Advanced Server and the date keeps changing automatically. A similar problem was posted on 9/9/2003 but there were no replies for it

I work in Administrator login and so do my clients. This is causing a great problem since the application that I am developing is highly dependent on the date values.

Can someone tell me what the problem is? I am not sure whether it is a Virus. I have run the Norton Anti Virus with the latest definitions and it does not show any virus in the system.

A solution to this problem would be much appreciated. If this is not the group where I should be posting this question, please let me know the group where I can get the answer.

Thanks in advance.

Ive heard of this happening as well, Im an ex PC engineer
from a college (450 pc's and 3000 logins) we solved it by
replacing the battery in the motherboard!..whilst it was
disconnected from the main server, then we told the main
server the correct date and time to send to that PC
through its network ID and it worked ok after that

Have you got the date and time settings correct. You need to set three
things. Firstly set the date and time, then set the timezone and
thirdly check the box for Daylight Savings if you have daylight
savings. There is also in XP a setting that says to use an external
time source, but I can't remember if it exists in Win2KAS. Maybe it's
a registry hack.

What it sounds like is that your hardware clock is set one day in
advance and when the external time source is checked, it sets the
clock back 24 hours. (or in advance if it is the other way round.)

What TimeZone are you in?

Cheers,

Cliff
