sort address book by last name?

I'm using Outlook 2003, and have read the posts about sorting address book by
last name. Nothing there works to get the address book to sort by last name
instead of first name. I didn't find anything in the tools/e-mail accounts
menu that would change the sort order of the address book. It looks like the
Contacts List can be sorted different, but I want to have the Address Book
sort by last name too. Help!

What posts did you read? They all should say the same thing:
Go to Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or
address books > Outlook Address Book > Change. > Set your sort order there
Your options are to sort by First Name field or by File As... field.
Since the File As... field is almost always Last, First, that will
accomplish what you want. If your File As... fields are not Last, First,
you'll need to change that.

This did eventually work. Thanks. What you said is what every other one
said. It doesn't seem to show a result until after restarting. I don't know
if it was the computer or just Outlook for restart though.

The Address Book Service always has to be restarted to show the changes you
make to its configuration. In older versions, it prompted you with a warning
to that effect. Now it doesn't.
