Sony MicroDV Compatability Issues

I have a Sony DCRP55 Micro DV camcorder, and its seems that the only capture and software that this works with via my firewire connection is the terrible, and clumbersome 'Movie Shaker" software that ships with it. WMM will not recognize my device. Am i correct in this assumption? Is anyone else having the same issues?

Some people have had limited success with Pinnacle studio
8, I beleive S9 is dropping support as MMV looks like it
is on it's way out.

Ulead Media Studio Pro 7 appears to work with mmv.

I have a sony micromv I use movie shaker. I tried to export it from movie shaker to movie maker in a mpeg format it says I do not have the codec on my pc to do it. Not only that but it will not capture the sony !!

thanks all, for your advice. I wish Sony would focus on making great HW and stop pretending to be a software company! ) I will keep trying. If anyone else has any clues, please post away! cheers!
