sony cd burner wont burn or reckognize their is a cd in drive

i get no error msg
my burner will not reckognize empty discs it wont read anything on any disc
that ive burned with it , or any game cd for that matter..the light comes on
like it is reading the cd but then nothing. so i open it up and it is like
ther eis a blnk cd in it but when i try to burn using widpows media it says
i cant burn because of a full disk or non existent disk
 
Try ununstalling the cdrw in device mgr,dont restart,shut down,power off.
Move the cdrw to another spot on the IDE cable,configure jumpers,restart
computer.
