Lately i have encountered slightly slower loading times, then once i log
in and the task tray is loading, it takes a long time before anyting
shows, and the only things that will actually load are the NIC icons,
and SOMETIMES my McAfee AV software, but thats all. Sometimes i reboot
and its all fine.

Anyone encountered this? I've grown out of the joys of re-instaling
windows every few weeks ;) (hehe, kids).

Unfortunately, this isn't enough information to diagnose the problem. It
could be software (malware for instance) or hardware. First, make sure
the computer is completely virus/malware-free:

If the machine is clean and the problem persists, do clean-boot
troubleshooting:

Clean Boot - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=310353
and How to Troubleshoot By Using the Msconfig Utility in Windows XP -

After looking at software solutions, if the problem persists check out
your hardware. Are your drives using PIO mode instead of DMA? Here's a
link to MVP Hans-Georg Michna's explanation of that:

http://www.michna.com/kb/WxDMA.htm

That should give you a start in your troubleshooting. If you need more
help, please include something about your computer's specs and the
results of the troubleshooting you've done.
