Windows XP Something strange happend

as the title mentions, something strange did happen. after i got home from my friends home (i borrowed his cable internet :D). when i started up windows i noticed that the 'file, option, edit, etc' was missing... it was replaced with a windows logo, i dont remeber changing it (why would i?) any help?

The "logo" is always there, but usually just in it's own little box on the right ... have you unlocked the toolbar?

didnt work, i dont have the option to lock or unlock the toolbars.... nothing happens when i right click the top

Now i know some aint right,
add & remove programs is missing !! :(

i have scan my computer in safe mode with SB search and destroy, avg anti-virus and Ad-aware.
they all came up empty.
i suppose i will grab hijack this when i go to me friends house.

Have you changed anything recently? not messed with the registry have you?

Mucks.... thats not nice :D

V_R, as far as i can recall i havent done any registry changes at all. The only thing i really did was get nForce drivers from my motherboard. But i will check msconfig for anything different (dont know if it will help).

Also, i do plan on doing a windows repair with the OS disc if i cant find a solution for this... so dont break a sweat on my problems :)
Of course if u can help me, all the better :D

Problem solved.... i think
just finished windows repair, everything seems back to normal
hopefully this problem wont reacure, Thank Techy and Mucks for the reponses :D
