I'm running XP SP1.
About a week ago, my connection began cutting out every few minutes. I
rang the ISP who told me that their logs showed that it was user
initiated disconnect.
A flatmate had recently fired up MSN messenger and that seemed a
logical candidate for the problem. I did some was reading around and
worked out how to delete everything related to MSN Messenger & Windows
Messenger that I could find. This did improve things for a bit.
I also created an account for her (w/o Admin privileges) and i think
she has now re-started MSN within her account, and tonight it hung up
5 times in less than an hour.
I don't believe that MSN messenger should have this effect. I don't
want to ban MSN Messenger from my machine.
Can anyone shed any light on this behaviour?
Is there some way I can see what program is talking to the modem?
I have a UNIX background and as a Windows Sys Admin I'm a novice - so
please be gentle.
Thanks for any help you can give.
