OK...While trying to remove some malware..I went to open windows in safe
mode using the F8 procedure. I recieved an error saying that due to some
new software or hardware it was unable to open in safe mode. I reopened
windows in normal mode and went to the START menu to access msconfig.
There I was able to check the box to start in safe mode on restart. I
restarted the computer and got the same message as before saying
Windows wasn't able to open in safe mod. I was given 5 options
Safe Mode
Safe mode with networking
safe mode with command

last configuration
and
normal windows

After trying all these options I am still unable to get me computer to
start windows in any way. I have ended up in a world of never-ending
restarts. The windows xp opening page will come up showing it is trying
to open but will stop halfway and restart the computer.

Can someone help me get my windows open again without having to totally
reboot the system??? I would like to just access some of my files before
totally rebooting.

Ps Please give me the "for dummies" version as I'm not not good with
the real tech talk..lol

PSS the malware I was trying to rid myself of was cpvfeed.com. If you
have any ideas how to get me going again, getting rid of this malware
without losing hours and hours worth of work I would much appreciate
the help!!!

You may be still infected so go through them and if there an error messages
post them back here:
1... First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
Then click on Programs Tab and click Manage Add-Ons and Disable all non
Verified Add-Ons (You should Renable them later one-by-one and see the
culprit and update it or remove it.
For Malwares download both these software:
http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php
http://www.safer-networking.org ; for Spybot S&D

Run a scan from here online:
http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx
Download Avast Cleaner from here:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-virus-cleaner.html
Lots of tools to download and disinfect your machine:
http://www.bitdefender.co.uk/site/Downloads/browseFreeRemovalTool/

Look in the Event Viewer for any failure or Error Messages (X) and double
click them to get More Info about the Application/Hardware causing it.
On how to access the event Viewer do the following:
Open a Run Command and type in:
eventvwr click [OK] on the Event Viewer click on;
Application
System
Security
Look in the right Pane/Window for any Yellow exclamation mark or Red (X) and
double click them to get more Info and you can copy and paste in your next
message or search the net to know the causer and the solution.

Download the Hijackthis and send the report to one of many
forums for analysis and troubleshooting:
When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. Post
your log to http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30,
http://castlecops.com/forum67.html,
http://forums.subratam.org/index.php?showforum=7, or other appropriate
forums for expert analysis, not here.
Run disk Clean Up and Defrag in safe mode, then Open run command and type in:
sfc /scannow click [OK]
Note the space between sfc_/
HTH.
Let us know.
