Somehow Outlook 2003 became my default email. How to stop it?

I prefer Outlook Express. How do I stop MS Outlook from being my default?
 
Change your default email program in Internet Explorer, Tools, Internet
Options, Programs.
 
Every time that you use Windows Update or Microsoft Update or Office Update and install any update for Office this will happen. If you want OE to be your default then you will need to set it back to default each and every time after using Office Update or any of the above
